Highlands Emergency Services Alliance
On this, the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, assisted by HESA, hosted a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh in the Cathedral of Learning.
This event honored the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001 and proceeds benefitted the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

For the first Greater Pittsburgh Stairclimb, 28 people had registered and climbed the equivalent of 110 stories (one of the twin towers), 1 HESA cadet I'm told climbed the equivalent of 220 stories.
I did received a copy of an e-mail from Mr. Huey, who organized the stair climb, citing a fantastic job by the HESA cadets. Mr. Krzeminski, his parents and Mr. Buffenbarger were there providing assistance as well.
Through different news articles, I also learned that Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and Bishop David Zubik were there for opening remarks and prayers. Mayor Ravenstahl also participated in the stair climb.
To all who made this first Greater Pittsburgh Stairclimb a success;
THANK YOU!
